Vapor Barrier

Metal roofs have a tendency to make water droplets inside the building due to condensation. A vapor barrier known as a “single bubble vapor barrier” stops the metal from getting wet in the first place. Bottom line: vapor barrier keeps your pole building dry, makes the rain on the roof less noisy, and keeps your building a bit warmer inside.

Single Bubble Vapor Barrier
Vapor Barrier Example Metall Building Roof

The single bubble vapor barrier is designed with a white underside and foil on the top side, which faces the roof metal. In the morning, when the sun rises, the steel roof is cool, and the air is humid. As the sun gradually warms the steel roof, the outside of the roof heats up faster than the inside, leading to condensation and moisture buildup in your pole building. The single bubble vapor barrier serves as a reflective layer. When the sun’s rays heat the steel, the heat passes through the metal but is reflected back out of the roof by the foil side of the vapor barrier. This reflection of heat helps to equalize the temperature, preventing the metal from sweating and causing drips.
